My European Labour Market Graphic

In the progress to create my next information graphic I analyzed two datasets. One dealt with the unemployment by states and the other one with the employment by population in the European Union. In the last dataset gender, age and other indicators were presented. The datasets were published in different years, that's why I added this information in every aspect.

Unemployment Graphics

In my next info graphic I want to focus on statistics about unemployment in Europe. For inspiration I did some research regarding the visualization of unemployment numbers. First of all it is quite negative to point out the unemployment numbers instead of focussing on the employment. I want to have a look whether the negativity is expressed in the design of the graphics.

My Art-Heist-Graphic

Finally I realized the info graphic about the Boston Art Heist in combination with a timeline about other art robberies. But I focus on the chronological event of the Boston Heist. So the left segment is illustrated more detailed and with many figurative elements. Contrary the right segment is providing only text. I tried to visually distinguish the parts by using different background colors.

The Gardner Heist

For my next project I want to visualize the biggest art heist in history - the Boston Gardner Museum Heist. That's why I did some research whether some info graphics do already exist. I found two focussing on different aspects. One is dealing with the event of the robbery and the other one with the police investigation.

My Crash Course

My next project dealt with the visualization of statistics about airplane crashes.
The dataset included information about the year, reason, airline/operator, destination, country, time, location. I decided to clarify the complexity dividing the information in six segments using a pie chart, time line with bar chart, hierarchy visualizations and a map. The units minimize the amount of information processed at one time.

Inspired by Airplanes

Visualizing numbers and abstract data is challenging. There is a variety of elements representing frequency, relations and proportions. My next project will deal with statistics about airplane crashes. That's why I was looking for some inspiration in the field of visualization of airplane-data. There are many information graphics that focus on different aspects.

My CV

Finally I visualized my own CV working with some elements of the other CVs. I used Adobe's software InDesign for creating the graphic. My idea was to cover more than one dimension using a flat and abstract design. The six sections (Contact Info, Education History, What I do, Training Experiences, Tools/Programs, Languages) are presented on a line working with short descriptions, colors and icons. I tried to tell a story applying a time line and color scheme. The color cues serve as a visual reference to my skills and have a functional meaning. This kind of hierarchical information organization in sequences reduces the cognitive load making it more easy to follow and understand. The viewer is guided along the line and gets the useful information step by step for understanding the color links and meanings.

Thinking again about this color concept it would be more logic using the logos in black and white (Tools/Programs). And also the bar chart for presenting the language skills would better work in grey or black. Since these colors are meaningless and only decorative.
